Ankle and foot injuries

General Advice

Many ankle and foot injuries can be effectively self managed with the help of expert advice from a Chartered Physiotherapist / Physical Therapist.

The three most common ankle and foot injuries are:

  1. sprained ankleOften called a twisted ankle it is more normally the ligaments on the outside of the foot (the lateral ligament complex) which is strained
  2. Plantar fasciitis The pantar faschia is a thick band of fibres that runs along the sole of the foot. It commonly causes pain in the heel
  3. Achillies tendinitis. Joining the two calf muscles (soleus and gastrocnemius) together and attatching them to the back of the heel bone, achillies tendonitis is a comon injury especially in people who enjoy running sports or cycling
